Student & Family Handbook

• Please call the school attendance line if your student will be absent.

• For the safety of our students, Stony Creek will call families as soon as possible if unaware of your student’s absence. 
• Please make every effort to not schedule appointments or vacations during valuable instructional time. 

• Since supervision begins at 7:55 a.m. for the “soft” school start, students should arrive no earlier than that. 
• They will enter the building through their outside classroom door. 
• A student is considered tardy after 8:05 a.m., and families will need to sign in at the main office before students can go to their classrooms. 
• For the safety of all, please use the designated crosswalks when dropping off or picking up students.

For our school to run smoothly, all Stony Creek Elementary families must abide by our code of conduct. It is vitally important that students adhere to proper rules of safety and courtesy so we can provide the best possible learning environment. 

The Stony Creek staff will contact you regarding problems that are repeat occurrences or are major infractions. This could include causing physical harm to self or others, offensive or inappropriate language, property damage, stealing, habitually disruptive or bullying. 

Jeffco believes that schools and families must work together on all aspects of a student’s day to provide a safe learning environment for them to thrive. Our primary objective is for students to learn from their mistakes.

Stony Creek believes that all students are “STARs,” (Safe, Take Responsibility, Aware of Self and Others, Respectful). STAR tickets are given to two STAR students from each class chosen monthly by the classroom teachers to reward and acknowledge STAR behavior.

• Non-food birthday treats and celebrations will be pre-arranged with the classroom teacher and brought or delivered to the classroom. 
• Party invitations should not be distributed at school. 

• Breakfast is served daily from 7:40 to 8 a.m.
• Students should enter through the front door.

When families need to be notified of a student’s illness or accident, Stony Creek uses the information you have provided in Infinite Campus to contact you. 

Update Campus for contact information changes

• Please, if any of your contact information changes during the school year, log into Infinite Campus using your Jeffco username and password. 
  • Click on “more” in the left column navigation.
  • Then click on “demographics” to update the information. 
• All emergency messages will be broadcast via School Messenger using information from Infinite Campus.

School Messenger sends critical announcements, such as snow closures to families 24 hours a day in multiple languages, using voice messages, e-mail and text messaging. 

At times, Jeffco will call a two-hour delay instead of a closing during inclement weather.

• Our school hours on these days will be 10:05 a.m. to 3:05 p.m. 
• Bus transportation will also run on a two-hour delay.

Fees for your student’s learning materials must be paid. Please log into your Infinite Campus account to pay online, or you can stop by the office to pay by cash, check or credit card.

• All medications must be stored in our health room. Students will come to the health room to take the required medication. 
• Students may not carry any over-the-counter medicine. 

No dogs or other pets are allowed on school grounds per district policy.
