English as a Second Language (ESL)

English as a Second Language in Jeffco

Welcome multilingual learners and families!

Multilingual learners contribute to a strong academic environment, creating schools where diverse communities thrive.

Jeffco's English as a Second Language (ESL) program supports multilingual learners academically and linguistically. Teachers and tutors from the Department of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education (CLDE) use a range of strategies to help students who are learning English access rigorous, grade-level content while developing listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in English.

How ESL Supports Multilingual Students and Their Families

Work with students: I work with all ESL students, either in their classroom or in small groups in my room. Our work together is focused on the language needed to do their best in their classroom.

Work with teachers: I meet with teachers to help plan lessons, provide recommendations or resources and problem-solve to best support English Language Learners (ELL).

Work with families: Please reach out at any time! I can arrange for an interpreter for any language. I will gladly talk with you about your student’s language progress and share their goals and successes.
